The Symposium will bring together local, national, and international experts to discuss leading practices, innovations, and opportunities for improvement in the field of pediatric solid organ donation and transplantation.
This symposium is designed for residents and fellows to become familiar with and update their knowledge about the principles of organ transplantation through lectures, question & answer sessions, panel discussions, case studies, and small group work/discussion sessions.
Areas of focus will include evaluation of organ donors as well as an overview of important topics for trainees in the field of solid organ transplantation such as HLA typing, management of acute and chronic rejection, emerging management strategies, etc. We will also be highlighting the importance of trainee wellness and discussing methods and tools to avoid burnout. The primary goal of this symposium is to equip trainees with the knowledge and tools needed to deliver premium care for pediatric solid organ transplant patients. We also hope to encourage trainees to be the next generation of leaders in the field of pediatric solid organ transplantation
